This project will provide the UDRH sector with a national inventory of tertiary medical, nursing and allied health courses which require that students to undertake a rural placement and will identify where reliable rural clinical placement opportunities are known to exist.

This project will analyse and report on research regarding rural and remote clinical placements undertaken by medical, nursing and allied health students through UDRHs, and internationally, focusing on the elements which were found to be important (positive or negative) to the overall experience of the placement; the elements of those placements which were found not to be important (positive or negative) to the overall experience of the placement; the elements of those placements which tended to contribute to a desire to pursue a rural career.
